Rolex Black Dial Air-King Ref. 14000

This Rolex Air-King reference 14000 is a superb example. The watch features an E serial dating to circa 1990, which is the earlier run of the reference 14000. The case has been lightly polished. This Air-King is an awesome wristwatch for both casual and formal attire. It feature an uncommon and beautiful black matte dial with all the lume plots in excellent condition.

It features the early “Precision” font for the reference 14000, which is slightly thicker. It also is an early example with a “holes case” where each of the four lugs has a hole to access the spring bars for holding the bracelet. A few years later, the reference 14000 moved to have a solid “no-holes case” where the spring bars could only be accessed from the end links.

We do not know the service history, but it is keeping excellent time. It does not come with box and papers. It recently passed a 5 bar water resistance test. The bracelet appears to be original with the correct 557 B end links. The sapphire crystal is probably original.

The dimensions are approximately 34mm in diameter with a lug-to-lug length of 43mm.

It’s a super fun piece in a timeless and highly-wearable case size. It is one of the absolute best Rolex watches you can buy for the money and we love them!
