Photo Report: Chicago at Wright Auction House

by Charlie Dunne

Being home to a vibrant community of watch collectors, a trip to Chicago had always been on my bucket list. Fortunately, Eric Wind and I traveled to The Windy City this week as Eric gave a presentation to Wright auction house on “Watch Collecting 101” on Tuesday, March 29. It was a vibrant gathering of approximately 50 watch enthusiasts as well as numerous more that watched the livestream on the website and that have watched the recorded presentation since then.

In addition to meeting old acquaintances, sometimes for the first time in person, there were plenty of new friendships formed in Chicago. Below are a few snapshots of the evening that hopefully serve those hungry for vintage watch content.

At the event, Eric announced the forthcoming auction that Wright is hosting with The Brian Laviolette Scholarship Foundation planned for December in Chicago. The late Brian Laviolette was a passionate watch enthusiast and the Foundation has planned an auction of watches donated by supporters and notable people with all proceeds going toward scholarships for students. The highlight lot is a Swatch donated by Pope Francis. If you are interested in donating a watch, please reach out to us at info@windvintage.com and we remain extremely excited about this opportunity to bring the watch community together to help students pursue higher education.
