Watch Spotting at Jaeger-LeCoultre Beverly Hills

By Charlie Dunne

Both Eric Wind and I are huge fans of Jaeger-LeCoultre, with several watches and clocks in our personal collections. Over the past year, we’ve been amazed at JLC and the Heritage Department with endeavors such as The Collectibles. While in California, we were honored to speak with Product & Heritage Director Matthieu Sauret about the latest capsule of vintage timepieces. Prior to our panel discussion, we attended an evening at the Beverly Hills boutique.

Upon touching down at Jaeger-LeCoultre Beverly Hills were greeted by Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Boutique Manager, Nicola Cagliata. On his wrist was a very sporty and elegant Polaris Chronograph in pink gold. The JLC team represented the manufacturer with some outstanding timepieces. Matthieu Sauret wore his personal Grande Reverso Ultra-Thin 1931 with the “Chocolate” dial during his first visit to California. Belinda Mayo, Assistant Vice President of Marketing and Communications, wore an an elegant Reverso with a sunburst guilloche dial. Andrea Persson Truppel, Marketing & Communications Manager, wore her insanely cool Duetto Reverso w/ black dial which we were admiring in the Palm Beach boutique a few weeks earlier. Anne-Laure Ritter President at Jaeger-LeCoultre Americas, wore her diamond Reverso in yellow gold. Vivian Wang-Sonntag, Assistant Boutique Manager, wore her Rendez-Vous Classic Night & Day.

One particular timepiece displayed the private showroom caught my attention. It was a very special Atmos clock made in tribute to Gustav Klimt’s 1905 painting 1905 ‘Fulfilment’. From a brief search online, it appears JLC has created numerous Atmos models inspired by Klimt’s artwork dating back to 2008. This model appears to date to circa 2015. Along with Marc Newsom creations, this is certainly a grail Atmos clock!

Several friends were in the building: Fred Savage wore his personal Memovox reference E 861. Young Brando Watches ‘n Style wore his stunning Reverso Grande Date reference 240.8.15 with the 8-day power reserve. Brandon Menancio had his vintage Seiko on his wrist. Amanda Michalka wore her insanely cool Patek Philippe reference 404. Stephen Ringer wore one of my favorite Universal Genève Tri-Compax models ever. Aly Michalka wore her Rolex Daytona famously mentioned in ‘Pretty Places’. Tony and Katie Traina wore time-only mid-century JLC models - a reference 2983 and a blue-dial Dunhill. Miles Fisher wore his Audemars Piguet Royal Oak with a personalized case back. Eric Wind sported his wedding-day watch, a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute To 1931 US Edition. Mike Nouveau sported his trusty Rolex “Fuchsia” GMT 1675. Alex Berger wore a very funky American market LeCoultre with red accents. Zach Kazan had on his Grand Seiko SBGA469. Jon Alain Guzik wore his OMEGA Seamaster De Ville. Ripley Sellers had on a fantastic Rolex Cellini. Nathalie of Hovigs Supply House wore an incredibly cool pair of timepieces - a LeCoultre with teardrop lugs and diamond Cartier powered by the iconic Jaeger-LeCoultre calibre 101!

It was an incredible evening with friends and fantastic watches. While you may get a glimpse of the latest Collectibles below, keep an eye out for our forthcoming article where we explore the latest vintage curation by Jaeger-LeCoultre!
