Breitling Duograph Reference 762
Originally released in 1944, the Breitling Duograph comes from the golden age of chronographs. At the time, manufacturers were ambitious to take advantage of the highly desired, and advanced sporting complication oriented for the racetrack, air and sea. The pinnacle wristwatch complication for the period was none other than the split-seconds (rattrapante). This model is the earliest version of the Duograph (the reference 762), with the proceeding references being waterproof cases.
Perhaps overshadowed by the iconic Navitimer that preceded the model by 2 years, the Duograph still remains to be appreciated to the broader watch collecting enthusiasts. Although with its re-release in early 2021, the conversation may very well shift in the mainstream conversations of epic chronographs by the manufacturer.
The dial incorporates a stylized applied “B” with Arabic numerals and faceted arrow heads. The slight hint of blue in the tachymeter scale gives a nice accent to the rose gold dial furniture.
The case measures at approximately 36mm. The Breitling also features drilled lugs. It comes on a brown Horween leather strap branded Wind Vintage which was produced by Nick Gabarro. The condition of this watch outstanding and is a homerun addition for any discerning collector hunting for the atypical split-seconds chronograph.
