Patek Philippe 565 Steel Unpolished on Bracelet

The Patek Philippe reference 565 is a legendary watch that was one of the first water-resistant watches made by the company. Featuring a case with a screw-down case back made by Taubert who took over the Borgel company (noted with an FB over a key on the inside of the case back) as well as a distinctively-shaped large crown, these watches have a modernist design that remains extremely desirable to collectors today. This watch features a razor-sharp unpolished case, which is extremely rare to find for these models today. It also features a rare non-luminous dial with hour markers made of white gold. The watch includes a Gay Frères bracelet that also appears to be unpolished and this bracelet matches the look of the case perfectly. It has a production code of 1948 on it, matching the year of production of the watch as noted on the Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives that accompanies the watch. The watch was then sold in 1949. The dial features the “long signature” meaning it says “PATEK PHILIPPE & Co.” In 1949, production switched for watches to then just say “PATEK PHILIPPE” on the dial. It may be years before you see another 565 with an unpolished case like this available to the market.

This watch does not include the original box and papers, has a manual-wind movement (Caliber 12-120 PS made by Patek Philippe), is 35mm in diameter, and includes an Extract from the Archives.
