Strictly Vintage Watches: Eric Wind Quoted On The 2022 Rowing Blazers X Seiko Capsule
Charlie Dunne recently wrote about the latest Rowing Blazers X Seiko capsule within the article ‘Hands On With The Latest Rowing Blazers X Seiko Releases’. Within the article, Dunne quotes Eric Wind on the second collaboration between Seiko and Rowing Blazers, and his involvement in the designs.
“With the first Rowing Blazers x Seiko 5 Sports capsule last year, we were amazed by the enthusiastic reception for our take on the iconic Seiko dive watch both within and beyond the watch community. When Seiko asked us to do another, we were inspired by Jack Carlson's 1970 Seiko 6106-7107 70m Sport Diver with a bright orange dial. Rather than focus on different bezels with the same dial across the three models we debuted last year, we could focus on the dial. We wanted to design a collection that reflected the spirit of Jack’s vintage 6106-7107, using dial and strap colors that are sporty, fun, and complementary.”
Wind would expand upon the change in cases by stating:
“I first became aware of this smaller model with a smooth bezel two years ago when Tony Traina posted this black dial Seiko 5 Sports SRPE55. We quickly decided that this would be a great platform for the next Rowing Blazers x Seiko 5 Sports watch. The nickname of the model is the "DressKX" and it is sort of reminiscent of the Rolex Explorer I - more of a dressy tool watch because of the smooth bezel.”
