Rolex Air-King Reference 5500 with Black Dial

This Rolex Air-King reference 5500 is very interesting as it features a black dial that not has begun to take on a tropical aesthetic, but it also features very interesting faceted-hour markers. The luminous material at the edge of the markers and alpha hands has a warm-yellow patina.

Introduced in the mid-1940s, the Air-King is one of the great timepieces that has stood the test of time. This example has a serial number of 642XXX dating to circa 1949. The watch is powered by the calibre 1530.
