Rolex Explorer II reference 1655

Originally designed for Spelunking (cave diving) where the use of a 24-hour hand, like the one in the Explorer II is critical allowing the wearer to differentiate between night and day. These watches also have the nickname ‘Freccione’ meaning ‘big arrow’ in Italian. A slow seller when initially released, the reference 1655 has gained a cult following.

This watch is from circa 1974 (3.7 million serial number), does not include box or papers, has a manual-wind movement (Caliber 1575 made by Rolex), and is 40mm in diameter.
