Rolex Oyster Perpetual Reference 6090 Black Diamond Dial Original Papers
I’m thrilled to offer this Rolex Oyster Perpetual reference 6090 for sale. It is one of the most stunning Rolex Oyster Perpetual watches I have ever seen. The dial is a phenomenal non-luminous gilt example with applied dagger and six diamond hour markers starting at 12:00 (a style that many collectors adore). It is a very rare example with a black glossy and diamond hour marker dial similar to the historic “Bao Dai” reference 6062.
The watch dates to circa 1952, with the watch completing chronometer testing on June 5, 1952. The case is 18K gold and has been lightly polished and measures 33.5mm in diameter (40mm lug-to-lug). It came from the widow of the second owner and according to her, the original was reportedly a famous car dealer in New York. It includes the guarantee and chronometer certificate from 1952 as well as the original strap and buckle. I have paired it with an 18k yellow gold stretch rivet Oyster-style bracelet made by Gay Frères which dates to circa 1953. It is an insane pairing. The crystal is likely the original crystal. For those who love elegant sports Rolex models, this watch is hard to beat.
