Rolex Submariner Reference 6205

The reference 6205 was introduced in 1954. The would be introduced with “pencil hands”, like in the present example, and later feature the “Mercedes hand”.

This dial is is the 2nd generation of 6205s (the first being a "clean dial" absent of model’s name on the dial). It has a nice warm gilt dial with a warm patina. The case is 37mm in diameter (47mm lug-to-lug). The watch dates to circa 1956 with a 219XXX serial. The watch is powered by the calibre A260.

It is paired on a later Rolex stretch rivet bracelet dating to the first quarter of 1965 with 65 end links. The bezel is a later example which was added during a service.

The watch is in great condition, and is lightly polished. The watch comes from the original owner and he has provided a few photos of him wearing it over the years. It does not come with box, but it does come with service papers.
