Universal Genève Compur Reference 12420 Unpolished
This Universal Genève Compur is an amazing chronograph dating to the early 1940s. The case is one of my favorite designs with angular lugs. The watch measures 35mm in diameter (42mm lug-to-lug). This reference 12420 is in fantastic condition and the 18K case is unpolished. The case has the hammer 166 Swiss hallmark meaning that it was made by Henri Jeanneret in Peseux. There is speculation that Henri Jeanneret may have been related to Pierre Jeanneret and Le Corbusier, who designed Chandigarh, India and whose Jeanneret chairs are highly-prized by collectors worldwide. The watch is powered by the calibre 285. The case has female springbars. The case back is engraved “John H. Gibson From Mother”.
The watch was just recently serviced and is running great.
The watch does not come with box and papers.
