Vintage LIP Two Register Chronograph

This chronograph is simply awesome. The centermost section of the dial has a radial sunburst finish while the white chronograph hand blends in giving a super clean look. The small detail of the “Paul Newman” subdial is one that could certainly serenade those with a proclivity for iconic chronographs. Fortunately the deep navy sector dial aids in the legibility adding a completely refreshing experience to “the chronograph experience” that many of us are accustomed to. The perimeter incorporates a very subtle tachymeter that could easily be missed by those not wearing it on the wrist.

The bi-compax LIP houses a manual wind Valjoux 7733 movement with smooth pump pushers . The unpolished case is in outstanding condition, with a retained mirror finish that looks as though it barely saw any time on the wrist of its previous owner. The dimensions are 36mm (42.5mm lug-to-lug) with a height of 12mm including the crystal. The screw down caseback identifies its antimagnetic property.

The watch is paired with an 18mm tan calfskin Wind Vintage strap made by Nick Gabarro (a personal favorite of mine) giving off a nice casual contrast. Wearing it on the wrist really brings a smile to my face. If I were to see someone wearing a retro watch like this, I would easily identify them as a watch enthusiast that knows how to select a super cool, but ultimately fun timepiece.
