Zenith by Universal Genève Uni-Compax reference 12511
This is an extremely rare and spectacular Zenith Uni-Compax reference 12511 made by Universal Genève. I believe it is one of the most beautiful Zenith watches ever made. This watch features a case with the hammer 166 Swiss hallmark meaning that the case was made by Henri Jeanneret in Peseux. There is speculation that Henri Jeanneret may have been related to Pierre Jeanneret and Le Corbusier, who designed Chandigarh, India and whose Jeanneret chairs are highly-prized by collectors worldwide. The case is unpolished and the two-tone non-luminous dial is a salmon-orange color that combined with the warm gold case makes me want to pass out each time I see it. Yes, this is not an inexpensive price, but can you find another in this sort of condition and configuration? These Jeanneret cases are extremely rare and highly prized, with some speculation that many were originally destined for Hermès in France and most of the watches with these cases seem to be found in France in general. I believe this piece would be worthy of a Zenith or Universal Genève museum.
