Rolex Paul Newman Daytona Reference 6239

This is a rare Rolex “Paul Newman” Daytona Reference 6239 with a spectacular white dial. This watch has resided in a private collection for over 25 years. I’ve been hunting it for years and am excited to finally be able to offer it for sale.

The first “Paul Newman” exotic dials we see on the Daytona reference 6239 are in the 1.6M range. From my experience, those are all black. Starting at the 1.7M serial range, we see white-dial “Paul Newmans” like the one Paul himself wore which was slightly later 2.005M serial that went for $17.8M at auction in October 2019.

These earliest white dial reference 6239s have an extremely vibrant white and red and pop. They also have a thin seconds register hand and flared hour and minute hand that the later ones in 1.9M-2M range and beyond do not. Those have thicker and straight hands with a pointed tip. These early ones are extremely rare and I really like the vintage aspect of the thin subsidiary hand and flared hour/minute hands like on the earliest reference 6239 and reference 6240 examples. The other notable aspect of the earliest Paul Newman Daytona dials is the large T SWISS T below 6:00. Later examples have more of a “sing-a-song” T SWISS T that is smaller and goes up and down like a rollercoaster.

Overall, you could dedicate years looking for a beautiful early “Paul Newman'“ dial like the present example. It is just not something you can find or source. The case is lightly polished, but very strong overall and I consider this one of the most beautiful “Paul Newman” Daytona examples I’ve held. The serial number is 1.8 million.

The watch does not come with box and papers. This is a rare opportunity to find an outstanding example of an early Rolex “Paul Newman” Daytona with white dial

Longines Sei Tacche Reference 5697 Retailed by Türler

This Longines reference 5697 is an incredibly cool Sei Tacche watch. The steel case measures 33.5mm in diameter, but straight lugs give off a bit more of a bold look on the wrist at 42mm lug-to-lug.

It features even luminous numerals. In addition, the dial features subtle circular-luminous hour markers which are also seen in various dials throughout the 1940s and 1950. On the outskirts of the dial is a great painted track indicating the 60 seconds/minutes and numerals for every 5-minute demarcation. The design is often found in 1940s chronographs and models like the Vulcain Crickets, but when they are featured in a time-only model it just gives the watch an extra measure of confidence. Not to mention, it also has a double-signed dial with the Türler signature. The prestigious retailer’s origin began in 1883 when the founders César Alexander Türler and Jean Henri Türler opened up shop in Biel, Switzerland.

If the watch itself was not cool enough, it also features a case back engraving! On the case back, an engraving reads: “IN DANKBARER ANERKENNUNG. TREUER DIENSTLEISTUNG 25 JAHRE. GERBER & CO. A.G.” (“In grateful recognition of loyal service 25 years of Gerber & Co. A.G.“). This watch was given to an employee of a Zurich based tobacco company commemorating 25 years of service.

Heuer Monaco Reference 1133B Unpolished Full Set

The Heuer Monaco was introduced in 1969 with the first automatic chronograph movement, the calibre 11.
