OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Reference 105.012-66 CB Case

OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Reference 105.012-66

The Omega Speedmaster was introduced in 1957, initially created for drivers in automotive racing. However, it would reach iconic status by eventually reaching spaceflight qualification by NASA amongst several of the highest grade chronographs of its era. This is an outstanding Omega Speedmaster reference 105.012-66 is a classic vintage model and could be a perfect timepiece for just about any watch collector.

The reference 105.012 was the first Speedmaster with crown and pusher guards, garnering the “Professional” name on the dial for the case upgrade. It features a stepped dial, and an applied Omega logo. It is in phenomenal condition, with a slightly warm tone developing throughout the perimeter, and is beginning to show signs of becoming tropical.

OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Reference 105.012-66

It is powered by the highly admired calibre 321, which was recently re-released to the excitement of many Speedy lovers. The reference 105.012 was the first asymmetrical case to be released in the Speedmaster line from 1963 to 1966.

OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Reference 105.012-66

The case was made by Huguenin Frères, and remains very crisp, showing its true form. The watch appears to be unpolished and has its original crown, which is uncommon as most were replaced during service. The dimensions are 42mm in diameter with a lug width of 20mm. The reference 105.012-66 is highly prized and collected because it was the exact same model worn by Neil Armstrong to the Moon. The watch was just serviced and I am thrilled to offer this great watch to the next lucky owner.

Rolex Precision Reference 4583

The reference 4583 is one of my favorite time-only dress models from Rolex. In fact, it was one of my first vintage Rolex watches which I shared in a video interview with Crown & Caliber in 2017.

This watch dates to the 1950s. Its dial features a small crown and applied numeral at 12 (as well as at 6 o’clock), which is reminiscent of the Rolex “Padellone” reference 8171. The remaining hours feature applied dagger and pyramid markers also found on the more complicated Rolex. A very distinct attribute is the leaf or “feuille” hands which are seldomly seen in Rolex models beyond this era.

The steel case is very elegant and remains unpolished. It features down-turned lugs with crisp bevels. It is powered by the manual-wind calibre 700. The watch just recently had a service and is keeping excellent time.

Rolex Air-King Reference 5500 with Black Dial

This Rolex Air-King reference 5500 is very interesting as it features a black dial that not has begun to take on a tropical aesthetic, but it also features very interesting faceted-hour markers. The luminous material at the edge of the markers and alpha hands has a warm-yellow patina.

Introduced in the mid-1940s, the Air-King is one of the great timepieces that has stood the test of time. This example has a serial number of 642XXX dating to circa 1949. The watch is powered by the calibre 1530.

Rolex Submariner Maxi Mark IV Dial Reference 5513

The lume is somewhat of an unusual darker color. The watch dates to circa 1979 with a serial number 6.19M. This timepiece was formerly owned by a gentleman whose name is engraved on the case back.

Gallet “Snow White” MultiChron 12

Gallet has made some of the greatest chronographs of all time and the MultiChron 12 is among the most special watches from the manufacturer. It is paired with a 20mm “Honey” Wind Vintage strap made by Nick Gabarro. The watch is powered by the Excelsior Park 40.

Cartier Tank Normale

The Tank Normale is one of the iconic models within the Cartier Tank family and the original design based on a French tank. It has been particularly special in my career as I was privileged to sell a smaller Tank Normale example that belonged to Jackie Kennedy Onassis during my time as Vice President, Senior Specialist for Christie's. This particular example is in great condition and dates to the late 1970s. The “Paris” dial features slight crazing, however it remains unrestored and has the “secret signature” at 7:00. The case is made of 18k yellow gold. It measures 23mm wide by 30mm lug to lug. The octagonal sapphire cabochon crown features the flattened surface and appears to be original. The watch is accompanied by what is likely its original deployant clasp in 18k gold, but it does not include the original box and papers. It has a Cartier International Service sticker on the back from its last service. This is a wonderful watch for a discerning individual.
