It measures 33.5mm in diameter and 40mm lug-to-lug. The watch dates to circa 1955 with a 120,xxx serial. It is paired on a rare Gay Freres 18k stretch Rivet bracelet with 19mm straight end links dating to 1956. The bracelet could be $20,000 alone if paired a Pre-Daytona!

This is one of the earliest Big Reds made and it is the first silver Floating Big Red Sigma Daytona I have offered for sale. The Greek Sigma letters next to T SWISS T below 6:00 refers to the hour markers being made of white gold.
The dial is in great condition with bold red “Daytona” font and original tritium lume on the dial and in the hands. The white registers are extremely clean and beautiful.
The case has been lightly polished, but remains strong. This Daytona features its original rare “Mark 1” acrylic bezel (with “hooked 2” in 200). This watch has a 4.12 million case serial number dating to circa 1976. It measures 37mm in diameter. It features a new TrueDome D21 crystal that is gorgeous. Rolex “The Priest” Daytona Reference 6239
The Rolex Daytona reference 6239 is the original and earliest reference of the Daytona. That aforementioned example sold for 131,250 CHF at auction.
This example also has the original early “300” Mark 2 reference 6239 bezel, which differs from later examples by having 300 on the tachymeter bezel and “UNITS PER HOUR” between 12 and 2 o’clock, whereas later bezels have it by 3 o’clock. This is the second version of the steel bezel found on the reference 6239 and the earliest Mark 1 examples have a 275 and dashes rather than dots next to the numbers.
The dial and hands are original to this watch and it comes from the family of the original owner.
